Our take is that Surftech combined the best characteristics of Poly and EPS boards and merged them in the smartest way possible. Traditional poly boards absorb vibrations a bit better than EPS and allow you to dig the rail deeper to have more hold in turns. An EPS board offers the Channel Islands Code Dual-Core a bit more float thanks to its less dense foam. So you get the additional float, more paddle power, meaning an increased wave count and more speed generation on the wave.
Shapes, this board is for riders looking to make the most out of average waves. This Channel Islands features more volume, which along with the Dual-Core allows for easy paddling and increased wave count. A single concave under the front foot allows for a punchy drive on takeoffs and the double concave blending to a vee provides lift and easy rail-to-rail transitions.

These boards are thrusters only, coming with the tried & proven FCS II system. Their website says: “Simple pre-glass finbox installation makes a tight foam-to-foam connection for optimal torsion strength that just might be the difference between continuing your session after a collision with something or having to replace your inbox.”
We like to think it’s a solid system that’s convenient if your quiver is two-tab heavy already.
