Typical hybrids don’t have fishtails, but they stand out as shorter, flatter, and wider than regular shortboards. Hybrid Surfboards usually excel in smaller-scale surf, beginners and intermediates love the extra float that comes with their thickness, while advanced riders appreciate their responsiveness;

Shortboards to this day are still seriously hard shapes to master and only a small percentage of dedicated surfers can really use them to their full potential. Hybrids have become many surfer replacements for a standard shortboard.
